Pediatric Cancer
Every two minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer. Less than half of the world’s children have access to effective care. Children who survive cancer are often left with debilitating effects that can impact their physical development and ability to learn.
The Thorold Lions are committed to answering the call to expand access to life-saving treatments and supporting the children and families who need us most, both locally and internationally. We are working to give children with cancer a second chance at life.
How We Help
Camp Trillium’s (official name is The Trillium Childhood Cancer Support Centre) offers year-round recreational experiences to bring children with cancer and their families together. They work to provide an environment that normalizes relationships and experiences, helps them in the healing process, and enhances their quality of life.
As part of the Lions District A-2, the Thorold Lions Club provides financial support to Camp Trillium – Rainbow Lake camp in Waterford. This 143 acre facility is a child’s paradise, providing a 35 acre private lake for water sports in the heart of a wooded wilderness. Rainbow lake runs family and residential camps in the summer and during the year, offers teen, family and winter residential weekends.
